UVA MIRA IS PRESENTED WITH TWO GOLD MEDALS AT MUNDUS VINI
Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards was awarded two Gold medals at the Mundus Vini Grand International Wine Award Spring Tasting 2015 for both Sauvignon Blancs produced on the Estate – The Sing-a-Wing Sauvignon Blanc 2014 and The Mira Sauvignon Blanc 2014.
The inaugural Mundus Vini competition was held in 2001 with an impressive 2235 wine entries. The competition, organized by a German wine academy, has become one of the biggest and most well-respected competitions in Europe. The competition is run twice a year to allow for entry of newly bottled wines both in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.
Uva Mira winemaker, Christiaan Coetzee, describes the Sauvignon Blanc from the Estate as being elegantly cool climate in style with notes of lemon and lime that make it unique for the area of Stellenbosch.
The Sing-a-Wing Sauvignon Blanc, produced from the highest Sauvignon Blanc vineyard block on the Estate and only available in limited quantities, has elegant fruit concentration with delicate minerality, refreshing acidity and a persistent finish. The Mira Sauvignon Blanc taste profile is tropical with luscious passion fruit and white peach on the nose with lingering green notes and a citrus finish.
Uva Mira Mountain Vineyards is nestled against the Helderberg Nature Reserve, as high as 620 metres above sea level. The Estate has breathtaking views over False Bay and Table Bay, Table Mountain, and on a clear day even as far as Robben Island.
The Uva Mira tasting room is open to the public daily from 10am to 6pm, artisanal cheese and savoury meat platters are served.
